How and Why did Andrew Johnson alter lincolns plan for reconstruction?

Answer Hi Corey, Johnson did not significantly alter Lincoln’s plans for reconstruction. Of course, we don’t know exactly what Lincoln would have done since he died right when the war ended. But he appeared to want to bring the southern states back into the Union as quickly and as peacefully as possible while still ending slavery. Johnson tried to continue that, although many accused him of being kinder to southern whites than Lincoln would have been. In any event, Johnson could do very litte since Congress was so hostile to him and even tried to impeach him. Congress pretty much ran reconstruction without input from Johnson.
