How and why capital and small letters are there in English writing?
Probably we could do without it, and once the younger generations of texters are running things, we probably will! English does not have the same word-order rules as some other languages. A period is a very small punctuation mark, easily overlooked. The capital letter at the beginning of each sentence just helps to signal the start of a new thought. It’s the same with the two spaces after a sentence that I was taught in typing, they just help with the separation. That custom seems to be disappearing, too.
