How and when will plans be activated?
The WHO has defined phases in the evolution of a pandemic that allow a stepwise escalation in planning, proportionate to risk. Currently the WHO Alert status remains unchanged at Level 3 which involves monitoring and keeping under review the pandemic risk assessment, and developing plans and actions to respond to an outbreak. WHO will decide whether this alert level should be raised in response to emerging events.
