How and what do dog breeders look for in the selection of dog breed characteristics ?

Well you’re obviously referring to the AKC. They cater to everything foo foo. There is nothing left of what the “breeds” were originally bred for. Today’s Golden Retriever is NOTHING compared to it’s original intention. An originally bred Goldie is NOT a family pet. They’re so watered down that they really are one of the most lovable breeds. They just HAVE to greet you at the door with one of your socks. The ‘original” breed is actually a game dog. As far as the AKC is concerned, “working” means how they trot around the arena on an extremely thin, throat choking lead. AKC demands that anyone (a judge) gets to walk up and grab the dogs gonads and whatever else and it’s all OK. I’m not a breeder but I sure don’t like what the AKC is allowing. They do NOT represent excellence or real performance. They represent a watering down of the real purpose of dogs, pulled from the wild, showing up to be Pariah Hiltons showpiece.
