How an estimated amount of total CO2 emitted by a country from various sources can be calculated?
You can get a quite good estimation by focussing on the fossil fuels used domestically. The amount of CO2 produced by the total combustion of a hydrocarbon is pretty constant so a tonne of gas produces about the same amount of CO2 as a tonne of coal or oil. So, add up all of the natural gas, gasoline, diesel, coal & crude oil and this will be the lions share of CO2 emmissions. Please give me 10 points! If you assume that burning wood and biomass is carbon neutral then there is not much else CO2 emissions other than from possibly deforestation. But that is not the total picture because most Western countries deliberately send raw materials to China to get them to make products for us. So we criticise China for increasing their CO2 emissions but all they are doing is responding to Western demands for manufactured goods which are imported. Technically, the CO2 is not emitted from our country but in reality it is our thirst for these goods that cause the CO2 to be emitted in China or India
