We have begun the migration of users from our old PSY email server to the shiny new one. This transition will be transparent for all faculty and staff computers, as well as to your email recipients. The Tech Staff will make the configuration changes for you, and we will not migrate a user over until we have had a chance to personally explain the changes and what is required to change your home email configuration. Although the full email address of the new server will be “yourname@MAIL.PSY.UTEXAS.EDU”, your current email will be configured such that your official address will continue to appear to recipients as the familiar “yourname@PSY.UTEXAS.EDU”; and this naming convention will become permanent once the old server is officially retired. The most useful feature of the new server is the ability to check your email with webmail (or in geekspeak – IMAP), and to use the “leave mail on server” option which facilitates checking email from more than one computer (ie., office, and home or l
