How accurately can the richness of the Peruvian Gold Sands be measured?
Getting accurate estimates of richness is a comparatively simple process. A great deal can be learned with just a few drill holes. Then pitting is done to confirm the indications. Because a Gold Sands deposit is built up by the same rivers flowing down, century after century, from the same mountains, it’s more or less uniform and homogeneous. Gold concentrations may be higher at some spots than others (and usually highest at and the greatest depth), but the concentration is relatively uniform – particularly in the horizontal plane. Unlike hard-rock deposits, the gold isn’t concentrated in veins that widen and narrow abruptly and then pinch out. Because of a Gold Sand’s tendency toward uniformity and hence predictability, a modest number of strategically located drill holes with follow-up by pitting and test mining can yield a large amount of useful information about the entire deposit. Q 9. Is the ore deposit of a Gold Sands completely uniform and homogeneous? No. Gold concentrations m
