How accurate are Avia IIs test signals?

0

All signals are digitally generated by super-accurate compter programs. Many signals are precisly the same signals used in the acclaimed Avia Pro set of test discs used by professional installers. Avia II’s video tests were produced directly in 480P with 8 bits per color channel. The signals were then prepared with custom MPEG-2 compressors with a typical bit level error under 1 bit count. The audio signals were all digitally generated in 16- or 24-bit resolution from custom-written programs. All signals containe the correct amount of distortion-eliminating dither. Editing of the signals, when it was necessary, was entirely in the digital domain using 32-bit floating-point processing. The resulting waveforms were then encoded into Dolby Digital by official licensed encoding programs.
