How accurate are AVIA DVD test signals?
AVIA’s audio and video test signals were generated in the digital domain. This allowed the source test signals to be as accurate as possible with current digital authoring tools. The test signals were encoded as MPEG2 and Dolby Digital data streams using carefully selected compression parameters and bit rates to maximize signal accuracy. The resultant MPEG-2 and Dolby Digital data streams were tested for playback accuracy. If necessary, encoding was repeated using different tools or settings to further improve signal quality.
