How accurate and current is the GIS data?
The answer to this question depends on the type of data you are interested in. Our planimetric data (bridges, buildings, centerlines, 2′ contours, pavement edges, railroads, streams, lakes, and transmission towers) were captured from April 2000 orthophotos and meet ASPRS Accuracy Standards for Class 1 Large-scale Maps. The digital orthophotos have a spatial accuracy corresponding to 1″ = 100′. Parcels are referenced to the digital orthophotos and follow apparent lines of occupation, therefore, they are not survey accurate. The parcel layer is continually being updated and the current date will be included in the disclaimer for the LakeNavigator site. We are in the process of adding metadata (data about data) to all our GIS layers which will provide detailed information about precision and accuracy. If you have more specific questions about our data you may contact us at the Lake County GIS Department.
