How 21B(Combat Engineer) a risky job to take?
My Drill Sergeant in Basic was a Combat Engineer. He told me that he knew quite a few people that had died. I’m not saying any job you will die in. There is a risk in any job though. If you go to Iraq you will end up in the convoys going from place to place (The most dangerous thing there) With the IED’s and the other dangers. I am not just someone trying to talk you out of it I joined a 68P (Radiology Technologist/Xray tech) And it was the best thing I ever did. I loved it. But Combat Engineer is a very risky job. It does not mean you will not come back though. Like I said my Drill Sergeant was a Combat Engineer and he was in for 12 yrs before becoming a drill sergeant. My recruiter was a Tank operator and he was in 14 yrs before coming to be a recruiter. And they both made multiple trips to Iraq. And my DS was in Afghanistan, he was also airborne and he was infantry to start with. I hope this helps, and good luck and Thank you for serving!
