Hood Mod (is it okay to remove the hood blanket & ground strap?

This mod involves either A) Removing the hood blanket entirely and cutting/bending the flaps to allow more airflow or B) cutting larger holes in the blanket, sealing the edges, and removing/bending the flaps to allow for more airflow. Note that the hood blanket has a foil backing which is connected to a ground strap to help eliminate radio static. If you remove the ground strap without also removing the hood blanket you might get some radio static. Therefore it is recommended that if you remove the hood blanket that you also remove the ground strap. The strap is not needed if the blanket is removed.
