The HCS-II was designed to be powered by a 12VDC regulated power supply. The current draw will depend on how many boards you have running. Consult the manuals for each of your boards and add up the listed currents. You can also power the HCS-II board and any daughterboards on it using a +5VDC supply. Installing a jumper in R8 will bypass the 7805 regulator. It will also bypass diode D1 which protects the board if you reverse the polarity of the power supply wires SO BE CAREFUL! If you supply a voltage OTHER than 5VDC or reverse the polarity of the power supply, you WILL damage your HCS-II! Most serious HCS-II users power the HCS2-DX & daughterboards with a +5VDC supply and use a +12VDC supply to power network nodes.
