Yes it can. The JDS Stargate has a RS-485 port which you can access directly from your control programs. Download the latest firmware from JDS so you can send up to 128 bytes per line to the serial port. See the PIC-TV manual for more details. As for other systems, any system with an RS-485 port that can send raw text to the port should be able to use the PIC-TV. See the manual for more information on the network protocol used.
