Holly Ridge and North Topsail Beach have much higher taxes. If they can operate on 5 cents per $100, how can Sneads Ferry?
A- Consisting of mostly residential properties, Holly Ridge and North Topsail Beach rely primarily on property taxes to provide their budget with funds. They have very few businesses compared to Sneads Ferry, which has the 2nd highest number of businesses in Onslow County. Holly Ridge’s portion from revenue sharing last year was roughly $140,000. If Sneads Ferry had been incorporated, our village’s share would have been over $750,000. This is mostly due to the substantial amount of sales tax paid to the state by Sneads Ferry businesses.
