From a Zen Buddhist perspective, human matter gets created in a pretty straightforward way: A male and a female have sexual intercourse and conceive a child. The rest is thinking. The unique physicality of human life includes a mind that produces thoughts. Most of us cling to, or push away, our thinking. Our constant clinging and aversion produces our suffering. The Buddha taught very clearly that we can end suffering simply by stopping the clinging and aversion.
