High Efficiency Condensing Boilers – What are they?
Condensing boilers are a new type of high efficiency boiler required by law to be fitted (where economically practical to do so) in homes where a domestic boiler is to be replaced or newly installed. Quite simply a condensing boiler converts more of the fuel into heat by utilising a heat exchanger within the flue, this captures heat contained within the boiler exhaust gasses & re-uses it. Condensing boilers can be over 88% efficient compared with 70-80% efficiency for conventional boilers. Condensing boilers are generally more expensive to buy but with greater efficiencies which result in lower fuel bills (and consequently lower greenhouse gasses) this cost can be justified with the payback. Always ensure you seek a quote from a professional installer that is Corgi gas registered & a good reputation.
