Hi John, yes, I’m afraid that in the world of DVDs and DVDRs, all things are very much NOT equal. I suggest you go to http://www.videohelp.com and check up on the compatibility of your player with the various different types of disk, also your DVD burner. If you can find a brand of disk that they are both happy with, then you will be off to a good start. Other things which may be affecting this problem, are the make and model of the PC, and the version of XP that you have on it. Many so-called multi-media PCs run the media version of XP, and between the system manufacturers and Micros**t, the system has been rigged so that it will NOT burn disks that are playable in a set top player. The other problem may be the age of the DVD player, for some reason, they tend to lose the ability to play DVDRs as they age, I find I have to replace mine after about 12 – 18 months.
