Hi Brian, sorry for the delay in answering your question, I have been at a papermaking conference for the last week. The IAPMA (www.iapma.info) congress was held in Australia this year.

Hi Brian, sorry for the delay in answering your question, I have been at a papermaking conference for the last week. The IAPMA (www.iapma.info) congress was held in Australia this year. I don’t know much about how they process the banana for the boxes but I have made paper from banana stem quite successfully by cooking it in 10% caustic soda for about 2 hours. I then wash out the caustic and beat some way depending on whether I want rough or smooth paper. The resulting paper has high shrinkage whether it is well beaten or not. Are you planning to do this on a large scale? Is there anything else you want to know?
