Hey, lets start a new hitchhiking craze! Whos with me?
Um, let’s not. Fads and crazes demean the purpose of what they supposedly promote. Think Woodstock vs. Woodstock II… Farming cooperatives vs. exclusive communes… the basic concept of the internet vs. AOL… coffeehouses vs. Starbucks… The list goes on and it’s not pretty. It’s not that we are trying to keep hitchhiking and subcultural movement all to ourselves. The mode of travel belongs to no single person or group. What we hope to accomplish through digihitch is a sharing of resources and celebration of culture. There’s no need to market what we are doing. Numbers, in the end, really don’t matter. Enjoy the experience of travel and share it with others, but please don’t turn it into hype. Hitchhiking is neither cool or lame. It is a shared experience, and a way to get around. Let us know what you’ve found out there- share your stories on digihitch.
