Conceivably, though I’m wondering how you plan to symbolize it. You can’t just picture someone self-destructing; you really need to come up with an object that represents the concept. A “Vanitas” is really intended represent the ephemeral, temporary quality of life, to remind the viewer that we all come to death and bodily corruption eventually. The idea is to make the viewer think twice about his actions during life, so as to ensure that he or she will eventually enjoy the eternal grace of heaven.
