Help/suggestions for speeeding ticket?

Part of the answer depends on what happened with the first ticket. Did you pay that ticket, or are you still waiting for your court date for that one too? Make sure you look carefully at the ticket. In many states, you only have 10 days to elect to plead guilty with an explanation. Even if there isn’t a time period written on the ticket, you’re still responsible for knowing what it is. Your options with regard to the recent ticket depends on the circumstances. Did you admit guilt to the police officer? If so, you might not want to plead not guilty. If you do, the officer will be subpoenaed. If he testifies that he got you on radar (very difficult to fight) and that you admitted you were speeding, the judge will wonder why you wasted the officer’s time and might not show any leniency. You could get lucky and have the officer not show up, but even then it is your word against the ticket.

Plead no contest and ask the judge to let you take a defensive driving course in order to remove the ticket from your record. Most of the time the judge will agree and if you don’t receive any more tickets in the following 3 months it will get removed from your record. Pleading Not guilty might work and if the cop who gave you the ticket does not appear, then it will be dismissed.

You plead not guilty. Then you go to court on the date and you should get it reduced. Most times the first ticket is reduced to parking on the pavement. However, there are a few execptions. 1. You have a Jr. license. 2. You have a license and you haven’t had it long. 3. You were going a crazy spead. You may also end up with a fine, and to take defensive driving class. Either way, your best bet is going to plead not guilty. Hope this helps.

Try to get them to allow you to go to driving school. If you can do this then they may remove the ticket from your record. I did this several years ago, passed the test and never had the ticket listed. I am not sure about second offenses.
