Help! Office Advice….Xmas Party at new job…..Should I go?

Yes, you should go. It won’t be as bad as you think. I’m terribly shy as well. We had our office party last week. It was easier than I thought it was going to be. Most people will start talking about themselves and you won’t have to say much. I was really glad that I went to our party after all. If you don’t go, people are going to wonder where you are. They will expect you to be there. Enjoy the time to just relax and get to know everyone. They will be happy to see you there and you’ll get a delicious free meal and maybe gifts! When I got to our party, I made the rounds shook hands & introduced myself to those I didn’t know. Especially make a point to speak to the higher ups and their spouses. After dinner & dessert, I thanked the host. I didn’t want to be the 1st person to leave but as soon as I saw 3 people walk out the door, I was not too far behind them! It’s just a matter of respect to your boss & co-workers. It’s the boss’ way of saying thanks. So I would definitely go.
