You might want to try Henry Adhesive Remover. You can find it at Lowe’s in their Flooring department. I’d try it with a cotton swab first in a tiny area. It is formulated to remove adhesive residue from vinyl and carpet including “cut-back” adhesive which is the tar cut back with solvent.
