having to do with renal nephrolithiasis, what does gravity dependent mean?
“Gravity dependent” is not a medical term. It may mean some seriousness attached to it. (Not sure) If a kidney stone is particularly large it can completely block the flow of urine down one ureter. This can lead to permanent damage to the kidney if it is not treated quickly. However, such complications are unusual as large stones usually cause significant pain, and are then quickly identified and removed. Please beware of the following complications:- Recurrence of stones Urinary tract infection Obstruction of the ureter, acute unilateral obstructive uropathy Kidney damage, scarring Decrease or loss of function of the affected kidney. Please see the webpages for more details on Kidney stones.
