Have you got an alternative idea to prison sentences for offenders in the UK or anywhere else?
Harsher prisons! UK prisons should stop being holiday camps. They have personal TVs, radios and are even fighting for internet access. Most of them live better lives in prison than they do on the outside. They eat at much as they want and have access to a gym and games facilities. They should be treated like prisoners in 3rd world countries (that’s why UK citizens who commit crimes abroad want to be repatriated back to UK hotels – I mean prisons) Take a way the privileges – make prison punitive. Bring in hard labour. Let them earn their keep. There is no deterrent with the way prisons are run. Taking away just their freedom is not enough. Criminals need to PAY for their crimes. Criminals who make money from crime should have ALL their property confiscated and sold and the proceeds used to defray the cost of law enforcement and compensate victims of crime.
