I had an odd date like that. I had a blind date from hell once! That role was originally Andy Richter’s, and we were two days away from shooting his scenes but he had to pull out. I had worked with Jon Cryer on Two and a Half Men years ago, and then Mark Harmon plays poker with him or something—they are good friends—so we asked Mark if he would give him a call. That part would have been really easy to make a caricature and play over-the-top. He modeled it on this motivational speaker he sat next to on a really long flight. It made our movie better having him in it. I also like that the film presents a new look at adult siblings after Sylvia moves in with her brother, Walt. We never see that in films today. Ever!
