You are right we have become immune and I have assumed we use the US version of a billion (the UK definition would be a whole lot worse) The thing is these numbers are thrown about with such causal indifference when company losses or profits are announced. Or the governments of the world talking about stimulas packages of this many billion or trillion like it is lose changes found down the back of an old chair. To put it in to perspective one billion is one thousand million. So £10billion should be wrote like this £10,000,000,000 Thats a lot of 0’s It fails to amaze me that the people that we trust with our own small (in compression to these numbers) dont appear to care. This week not one of them who apologised looked like they meant it and looked as if the figures about like they where talking about where quite unimportant.
