Poor you i had this after knee surgeries it was more painful than the op site but the doctors right unfortunately you have to wait.Sometimes after surgery tendons and such which are in effect elastic bands recoil tightly and the result is what you are suffering.Try painkilling rub directly on the area a hair dryer on the pain really soothes too but only while its there,not long term im afraid but at least it does bring relief.Gentle massage putting your finger tips into your groin may help undo the knot too.
