Yes, the Diamond – Caldor railroad operated in the area from 1904 until 1953. D&C railroad carried lumber from the sawmill in Caldor to Diamond Springs. In Diamond Springs the lumber was transferred to the Central Pacific railroad to be shipped to Oakland, California. The lumber was used by the California Door (Caldor) company to make doors and window frames.
