You know what happened with the sport is in an odd position of being completely controlled by such a small group of people, that I think people who still want to be involved in the sport are scared to say anything. What happens is that the whole issue snowballs. People who are in charge assume that since no one challenged them, their power is unchallenged. The old concept that the more power is in entrenched fewer hands, the deeper that entrenchment becomes.
