Have Neolithic artefacts been recovered from one of the long barrows at Damerham?

0

No. No excavation has been carried out to date at either barrow. A small sample of artefacts was collected from the surface of the ploughsoil during survey work in September 2008 in order to evaluate the potential of the area for fieldwalking. Most of this was worked flint broadly attributable to nothing more specific than a general Neolithic/Bronze Age date. A single potsherd dated to the early Neolithic was found on the surface of a field several hundred metres from either long barrow.
