Have anyone put a Buick 455 in a Chevy Monte Carlos?
What year Monte Carlo? You are going to need a Monte Carlo that has enough room for that 455 and a tranny that can handle it. That should be doable if you have the room for it. The 455 needs MUCH aeration, however, so make certain you have plans to alter the hood of the Monte Carlo to allow hood scoops. The 455 requires a LOT of air. I am assuming you have the correct carburetor for that motor including the padding to suck directly through said hood scoops (I do not remember what the “padding” I refer to is called). The 455 also requires a HUGE radiator. When my father got the GS455, they sold it to him as a straight Buick Skylark, with the normal Skylark radiator. This was a manufacturer error. How this occurred, I do not know, because the hood had the trademark GS455 hood scoops (that is a dead give away). We fought and fought with overheating until one of the guys at the dealership said “holy H*ll this is a GS455, no wonder you are having problems” and installed, for free, a TRUCK r
