Have any women here used shelf pessaries for uterine prolapse, and if so, what was your experience?

My wife has a stage three uterine prolapse, and is waiting for a shelf pesssary to be ‘fitted’ in the interim period before an inevitable hysterectomy. Ring pessaries have been unsuccesful and we have read reports on the use of such devices, which suggest a low success rate. She would be most interested to hear of others experiences of ring pessaries.
