Have American Muslims pushed President Bush closer to Ariel Sharon?
By Muqtedar Khan President Bush, who was the first American President to openly advocate the case for an independent Palestinian state and even suggested an tentative timeline for its realization, has now, to the surprise of many including President Mubarak, endorsed a unilateral Israeli initiative to the detriment of peace and his own roadmap to peace. This raises the question as to what prompted this sudden change in plan besides the obvious answer that when it comes to Israel, the tail always wags the dog. I suspect that perhaps President Bush, convinced that American Muslims would vote in block against him, has decided to do to woo the American Jewish vote and their purse and their political influence.
