Have Africans benefited from Independence and self-government?
While most of Asia has ultimately flourished following independence, Africa has, notwithstanding its wealth of natural resources, seen living standards plummet, corruption rocket and economies collapse as a result of self rule. I am tempted to say that the best solution for the African would be a return to British Colonial rule but the same egalitarian policies that accelerated African home rule also destroyed the English education system so we no longer have a supply of grammar school educated people capable of running an empire.
