Have a 642 and Sig C3 1911. What to buy now?

I have an S&W 442 that I carry everyday and Sig C3 compact 1911 that does bedside duty but may start to get carried now that it is getting colder. I’m going to the gun store today and think that I want to get a full size semi-auto. When I got the C3 I traded in a P229 which I liked very much and miss. I really like the C3 and I really don’t enjoy shooting the 442 at all but will invariably hold on to it forever b/c of its reliability and ease of carry. I want something that will be fun to shoot and possibly to replace the C3 bedside. I am thinking a 226 or a 220, but really, I have no idea where to go from here and what to get. Suggestions for the next piece to the puzzle? I’m looking to spend no more than $1000.
