Has Worldwide Swine Flu Epidemic Hit the Hoosier State?

0

Flu samples from two Hoosiers have reportedly been sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for further evaluation to determine whether they may be incidences of the swine flu. The samples didn’t match other flu strands seen by health professionals in Indiana this year, but they have not yet been confirmed as swine flu. Test results are expected within a few days. Officials haven’t narrowed the locale down any further than the state level to date. Forty cases have been reported nationwide so far, with 28 of those being in New York. Other affected states include Ohio, Kansas, Texas, and California. All of the individuals who were infected have recovered. While no vaccine is available, an anti-viral drug has the potential to be helpful to anyone afflicted with swine flu. Indiana has 691,000 doses of the medicine, but it won’t be distributed to anyone whose case hasn’t been confirmed to be swine flu. Comments are closed for this post. See All Posts
