Has there been a change to the 2008 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) that was previously posted to the Cahaba website in early December 2007?
The “Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007” which was published on December 29, 2007, changed the rates of the 2008 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS). Effective for claims with dates of service January 1, 2008, through June 30, 2008, the update to the conversion factor will be 0.5%; and for claims with dates of service July 1, 2008 and after, will revert back to the previous payment methodology of -10.1% update that was outlined in the Final Rule, published in the Federal Register on November 27, 2007..You can view the most current list of 2008 MPFS allowances at Cahaba GBA Medicare Part B Fee Schedule Allowances.
