Has the use of fuels contributed more to development of mankind or has resulted in destruction of environment?

I say it contributed more to the development of mankind. Yes, there has been some environmental impact, but nature is far more resilient than we give it credit for. Places like Love Canal and Chernobyl have come back from environmental disasters. Future technology will be cleaner than today’s tech. That’s been the case since humanity first started using fuels. As we move from fossil fuels to nuclear, hydrogen and other non-fossil fuels, the air will get cleaner and mankind will progress, just as we did when we switched from wood to coal. The fossil fuel era is a stage of development. One which is nearing its end.
