Has the ThinPrep method improved the quality of results from the Cancer Cytology Unit?
The ThinPrep results are proving to have a much better sensitivity as evidence by the pie charts comparing 1998 (last year of conventional Pap testing at SLPH) and 2001 (all SLPH specimens were ThinPrep). The quality of the specimen has drastically improved with the elimination of questionable results due to drying.
