Has the term “ethnic” taken on a meaning of being somehow inferior?

Not necessarily. It just depends on whether you’ve developed a business model that capitalizes on the ethnic qualities. Ethnic food products, dining, music, and art are all hot right now, so one can be very successful in marketing such items to the right people. Example: Jewish delis are certainly ethnic, but they are regarded as the best in the business.

White people don’t realize that “ethnic music” is number 1 in music. When i go to rap concerts, I mostly see white kids there. I mean these concerts are far from being majority blacks, I think it’s probably split 50/50. I agree with you and I don’t think ethnic is inferior. I just think that some whites that don’t like hip hop, which is world wide I mean japan, U.K. and London is big for hip hop, they don’t want to be associated with the word Ethnic and some maybe don’t really know the real meaning for it especially if they are younger people. It makes me think, do white parents know their child is rapping to Nicki Minaj? I mean Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez has youtube videos of rapping to her music, I was thinking I wonder if this was the first time their parents knew they listened to rap.
