Has the Quantum Entanglement theory been proven?
Quantum entanglement definitely occurs. What is controversial, and still undecided as of today, is what mechanism is behind it. Einstein,Podolsky, and Rosen set out to disprove what Einstein referred to as ‘spooky action at a distance’ in their famous 1935 EPR paper. The goal was to logically show that QM was not a complete theory by using a thought experiment involving entangled particles. They proposed that entanglement implied there was some type of hidden connection or hidden variable at work. Instead, they failed to prove their hidden variables interpretation of QM. Later, John Bell (Bell’s Theorem and the violation of Bell’s Inequality) showed that entangled particle states do indeed have a non-local nature that cannot be explained by any other means. Bell proposed experiments to be performed, but the technology to actually prove his theories did not exist until 1982 with Alain Aspect’s experimental tests of Bell’s Inequalities. Aspect used correlated photons, rather than particl
