Has the NDA resulted in project funding that promotes sustainable economic development in the North?
Sustainable economic development refers to development policies and programs that meet the needs of present generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. This is particularly important in northern Saskatchewan where half of the population can be identified as youth. Sustainable economic development must maintain a balance between the human need to improve lifestyles and well-being on one hand, while preserving natural resources and ecosystems on the other. Achieving sustainable economic development will require that stakeholders create a common vision and they proceed through cooperation and partnerships. The NDA has supported these concepts and has made some important strides in establishing cooperative partnerships and working relationships. (Table 5.3).
