Queries regarding the sanctuary scheme tend to require a more comprehensive response than queries relating to other parts of BVPI 225. DCLG has taken a more proactive role in addressing issues raised by authorities who are setting up sanctuaries by speaking at various events, highlighting areas of good practice, visiting local authorities and providing advice on sanctuary scheme proposals. In partnership with the LGA, DCLG hopes to publish guidance for local authorities on options for setting up a sanctuary scheme, later this year.
