In many ways it has because it has put a lot of information just a click away. The bad thing about it is that it takes away from in depth research since most people make use of the very compact information available on sites like Wikipedia and do not bother to look for further reference. And not all information available is truly reliable, since there is no one actually reviewing what is being posted. It is up to the education system to set limits to what is accepted as reliable information and what simply can not be used for educational purposes. But overall I do think the internet has had a very positive effect on education.
