Has the Grand Avenue Authority completed any traffic counts?
An analysis of the existing traffic conditions was completed by The Mobility Group prior to the opening of the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The majority of the information derived from that study was included in the Reimagining Grand Avenue report. In general, because Grand Avenue south of Fifth Street has one-way traffic, headed southbound only, Grand Avenue does not generate significant through traffic between Fifth Street and Second Street. Between Second Street and Temple, however, traffic counts increase as a result of commuting traffic using the freeway access ramps located north of Temple Street. Because of the high volume of daily commuting traffic on Grand Avenue, it was determined that the original plan to narrow Grand Avenue and expand the pedestrian sidewalks was not feasible. • Will the Countys or the Citys building codes be required for the project?
