Has the federal government dropped the ball on nursing home regulation?
Description: To address the specter of nursing home abuse in the United States, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) developed a website to help families research nursing home quality, and they’ve also compiled a list of the worst performing homes for additional follow up. A recent GAO report, however, found four times as many nursing homes that could be considered the worst in the nation. Is CMS doing a good enough job to prevent nursing home abuse and neglect?
