Has the economic slowdown adversely affected the healthcare sector?
There is no doubt that the industry should be able to weather the current downturn, as healthcare is a basic necessity and the possibility of delaying healthcare expenditures for longer periods is more or less remote. Ailing health will always require medical attention, irrespective of the economic conditions. When someone needs cardiac care or let’s say critical care, they do not usually have the leisure to worry about recession or market conditions. In fact, in testing times like these, with the rise in stress levels and their consequent effects on our health, the demand for good healthcare facilities might even increase. The growth in the healthcare space is moderate compared to the huge expectations. What are the bottlenecks? I won’t really term them as bottlenecks. But yes, there are a few areas of concern.
