Has the burn ban been lifted in Fannin County?
As of Wednesday, March 22, 2006, the burn ban was still in effect in Fannin County. A lot of rain does not necessarily eliminate the dangers of dry grass and weeds. In fact, there were grass fires during the rainstorms this past weekend. Firemen tell me that they have fought grass fires while wading in three foot of water. Be patient and be careful with your fires. It will probably be on the Commissioner Court agenda Monday for a decision. Why does the City of Bonham bill for water use in cubic feet rather than gallons? It has to do with the water meters currently installed on your property. The original water meters installed in Bonham (years ago) registered water use in cubic feet. So to maintain consistency in reading and billing over the years, we have replaced old/broken meters with the same type meter, and we still do. No one currently working for the City was around when this all started, and the only explanation I have found was that it may have been done for consistency with t
